I used to be a Share Point Power User (end user). I am now on my own and wonder how I could continue to used Share Point for basic functionalities. Is there a software that can be used on a standalone instead of using a server?
Do you want to learn SharePoint, is this what you mean!
SharePoint is used essentially for collaboration(documents and data), social networking, search, insight, web sites and applications creation.
I dont see the value of using SharePoint by a single user, but if the case: SharePoint can effectively be installed standalone (all in the same machine) furthermore SharePoint2010 can be installed in Windows8 and a free version exist (SharePoint Foundation)
I think your question was not so clear, but anyways -answer to your question is - you contact your administrator and ask from him about your credentials that would be your AD user id and password-then they will provision your site- after that you would be able to login sharepoint portal area.
This is the first activity by sharepoint administrator for any new user- sometimes provision is auto and sometime manual -it all depends on setting.
Please select as answer if your issue is resolved and enjoy the portal and sharepoint basic functionality.
