Visual aids are one way to enhance your class's level and should be not taught unless it fulfills a need or your aims. Therefore, visual aids should be used as a means to an end and not an end in themselves. Therefore, the teacher should know how to use visual aids and tips and all other techniques of teaching . As a teacher you should ask your self why you are choosing certain aids and adapt them to your class and their level not just use them because you think they have intriguing value of their own .
It is ideal because the purpose of visual aids is to enhance learning.It however at which level we are talking of here,the lower classes it is quite ideal and apppealing whereas it might not have the same effect in upper classes.I would feel it is user friendly to calls to call them MEDIA rather than teaching AIDS which evokes some mixed feelings.........joke.

Visual support is a part of teaching and teaching English is no exception. Even if it is a class of Spoken English you need visual support to explain certain words, terms etc. Some words are there which are not clear to a new listner until you write them on a board with right spellings.
