Big Data is more relevant to human behaviour analytics through correlation of huge amounts of data amassed through various sources and is more of a marketing tool e.g. social behaviour, call history, buying pattern, production pattern etc. whereas data mining is subjective analysis across any stream for indepth synthesis of information e.g. operational data, manufacturing details, financial, product performance, profitability etc.
