Supervisory control and data acquisition –SCADA- refers to ICS (industrial control systems) used to control infrastructure processes ,facility-based processes, or industrial processes

 

simply it is used for monotoring and control

well supervisory as u can manage the plant remotely like override the Engineers in the plant

data acquisition is getting field data to your screen where ever you are

SCADAA SCADA (or supervisory control and data acquisition) system. It consists of many remote terminals units for collection of data (field),that is being connected with master station through any communication system, having main task of collection of accurate data and controlling of process for smooth operation.

Hello, PLC is “Programmable Logic Controller”, its main function is performing plant control loops, mathematical calculations, sequence handling, interlocking….etc.
So it acts as the main brain of the system.
Although PLC can handle plant operations automatically, operator still need graphical interface which enables him to monitor his plant condition, follow operation and/or control some parameters and so on.
Here comes the role of SCADA “Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition” which provide customer with these capabilities plus other functions like trending, reporting, alarming….etc Note: SCADA phrase when said means a system composed of software + PC + application customized by developer.
