Hello,
SCADA has following subsystems or components inside software struxure integrated together to make it functioning. 1- Communication Driver: this is the way how SCADA can interface with RTU, PLC or any communicating device. 2- Data Acquisition: This is internal database where data are collected for SCADA operation. 3- Graphical Interface: User graphical presentation of data displaying values, animating graphics and enales user to modify prameters or control decisions management.
Other components exist like Alarm Management, Trends Management, Reporting facilities, data logging and storage.

SCADA is a software Human Machine Interface, that takes care of:1.Data logging from field instruments that are connected to PLC or DCS with real time stamping2.Display of values of various parameters and alarms for operator's information in a monitor3.Animates process flow diagram for Human operator's understanding4.Receives commands from the Human Operator from Key board or Mouse for execution5.Generates shift reports for effective production management of process under control
In essence SCADA is a DASH BOARD for Human Operator who is responsible for process control.

SCADA means Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition.which is the real-Time Monitoring And Control to manage any kind of equipment and instrument so ncreases Efficiency reduce down time ,It is a computerised system that connects to the plant PLC systems .

SCADA implies supervisory control and data acquisation, it is merely a software installed in a computer, which in turn has the capabilities to gather information from the field instruments which are connected to the PLC( programmable logic controller) and DCS ( distrubuted control system ) via communication protocols such as modbus tcp/ip , rs485 etc
A scada requires an intermediate driver which picks up data from the plc , this picks up the data stored in the plc's register addresses so addressing is a key factor otherwise the values obtained from the field devices ( eg- energymeters, transmitters) will not be polled by the scada
Popular examples of scada are the wonderware intouch, proficy IFIX, factory talk view
most user friendly and easy to use is wonderware intouch latest is v10.7
scada - intouch needs DASMBTCP for data access via modbus tcp communication
