What is intranet? Give some of its advantages and disadvantages

Intranet is a secure method to exchange mails & data in an organizations. Because to use the same you have to physically presence in organization premises. You can access only company’s site no any other social sites. Exchanges of mails & data depends on authentication which one provided by administrator according to your job profile.  If you are authenticate then you can send or receive mails from outsides too. If you are not then you are only circulate the same in internal departments.

Disadvantage : There is no any disadvantage of intranet if there is any ????  Organizations never put their value money in such big setup of intranet. 

And secondary the issue of exchange  & outer sites, I already mentioned above that if you are authenticate you can access all sites like internet. It’s totally depends on your role in company.

• Disadvantages of Intranet

  Intranet has great features for interconnected manners but has some disadvantages too

  • Management does need to stop control of specific information, this problem can be minimized but with appropriate prudence.

  • The other disadvantage of Intranet is security issue

  • Intranet gathered everything in one location which is really good but if it is not prearranged then you will spoil everything.

  • The cost of intranet is very high but has lots of advantages after implementing
