A great attitude is hard to find and can be an asset in itself. Productivity can be increased through frank discussion, encouragement, sharing of ideas and lots of praise for success.

Every person has feelings and the manager needs to understand that. The manager could discuss with the employee, as this person has a positive atitude, and see something can be done to relieve the situation. Firing definately would be a soluton for a good candidate.
