Rebuild trust to all the team ... so that all team members are involved in a decision
a good team defines its manager thus a good team leader should analyse,give direction and educate its team to make correct decisons and work with its team to resolve a problem while not undermining thier autonomy to ensure everybody takes responsibilty for thier work and take better decisions in future
What seperates a leader from a manager is the ability to establish what needs correcting, establish how to correct it and implement methods to do this AND to bring your team along for the ride. If your team is making poor decisions you need to be able to discuss the issues and ensure what you see as the correct path is correct. If the team is working towards the same goal, and the decision truely is the wrong choice, they should come around pretty quickly.
A team means more of we then me. Something noticed by a individual may be short term sight of the long term objective of the team observed, if its not goingto fulfill the longterm objective of the team then it has to be taken seriously with prompt rectified measures. Sometime long term decisions seems unfruitful at the initial phase of implementation. Only the course of time leads to its effectivity or failure with result. We need to consult a good mentor or speciality in the same feild for corrective measures.
I think a team must have same Vision to get good decision
Give the team your opinion about the decision and give them your ideas from what prospectives do you think their decision is wrong.
You have to share your idea with all the other team members and try to present the goods & bads about their decision. You have to convince them, what makes your idea better than theirs. A team comprises of several people having different sets of ideas. It is expected to deliver results to meet an objective, that is why there is a team leader to moderate and consolidate good ideas in order to get the expected results.
Well nobody is perfect, if you feel like your team member has taken a poor decision which is going to influence both the company and your colleague's reputation, then build a comfort zone with him by gaining his trust. Never, over rule his decision right away, instead sit down with the whole team, explore his decision, find out why and how did he end up at this decision and then modify his decision as per the view of the whole team including the manager or who ever is responsible. In this way, you build trust and confidence among your team, just like a family. Never discourage any member of your team, always help them and work as one single unit.
If you stuck with such team then defiantly there is a way out, there must be a team leader who approved the decisions. Do communicate your say with logic and reasoning to leader and if still they’ll go with that do let them do and see the results. But be sure you are on right solution and if results are not as per your thinking then do accept it and improvise your decision making process, be analytical, don’t be emotional.
Poor decision is the part of team work and its up to the risk as well as a good decision may be wrong. So all the decision creates by team work can gave positively result with poor decision. Market Fluctiations invloves in changes of market competition, plannig, risk,services and achieve target and so on.
Technically the question has been asked about team not the group. There is difference between team and group. In team, all the members are of equal ranks, while in case of group there is leader and some other ranks as well. The team is being formed to resovle some issues our to get some ways to achieve the set goals.
First I try my best to convince other members by highlighting the bad consequences of these decisions on the set target. If they do not convince, then i will approach to the higher authority to inform them about my views and ideas, if higher command is convinced, then its good, other wise i will quit from the team.
