The customer needs are3 types:
Expressed needs ( customer requirement) what customer request or demand example coffee with medium sugar. Meanwhile the customer had implied needs: expected quality even if he don’t request; referring to the first example he expect hot and hygienic coffee. The last type is the latent need or discovering what People want before they do (mostly we found it with the product related to technology
Ask them close / open ended questions related to what you wanted to achieve and if the answers to it is affirmative then the customer is satisfied.
Example: In sales my objective is to get sales orders. To finally check if the customer is satisfied with my offer, I will ask for the purchase order. If the customer's answer is in affirmative then it means that the customer is satisfied with my offer.
If your client is satisfied with your service then you will get another order from the same client.
If you get another order from your client then you can make sure that your client is Satisfied.
After delivery of end product / service to the customer, getting the feedback about the service or product will help to know about the customer satisfaction as well as will help us to know the areas to be developed.
So from this we cannot say this is job of Sales person but this is responsiility of every individual those who are directly / indirectly link with the end product / service.
