Can the O/S synchronize the time to the NTP source?

Usually if the battery replacement doesn't work, perhaps it is time to engage the hardware vendor for warranty purpose.

if the cmos battery is dead, then the system time will be in default ...however after replacing the battery ,if the problem persists means the cmos jumper pins may be in incorrect position....

Replace CMOs Battery, then adjust time in the BIOS and in the operating system i.e correct time zone and time.
