The main objective on why this is nescessary to used explosion proof in the oil company or power plant is to eliminate the possibility of producing any electrical spark that triger the surrounding area which may contain gas fumes from any oil product will lead to a fire or maybe worst. This product really explain by itself according to specification written inside that anything happen inside this fixture will not contaminate outside invironment if some of its part goes mulfunction.

Ex Complied equipment are required in the OIL & GRAIN processing areas . There is no need of any Ex Complied equipment in the offices of the Oil Companies and Grain handling offices.

The processing areas are Hazardous (IEC9) and there fore require Hazardous Area Safe and IEC or NEC complied and certified equipment.

Why Hazardous ? Because Oil is a class1 hazardous Material and processed-grain dust is a class2 material.

Electrical (and electronic) equipment working under potentially explosive atmospheres (also called classified areas) must be designed to avoid they cause the ignition of surrounding explosive cocktail. This protection must be effective during normal operation and also in case of circuitry malfunction.

There are basically2 kind of factors making an atmosphere potentially explosive: gas (e.g. present in oil industries) and some kind of suspended dust particles (e.g. silos).

There are several techniques to get it (intrinsically safe designs, flameproof enclosures, etc.) and the most suitable one depends on the kind of device, function and its location within the classified area among others.
