"vegetarian" is a generic blanket term used to describe anybody who does not eat meat, poultry, fish, or seafood. This encompasses vegans and also the various vegetarian sub-groups. Vegetarians are generally those people who have chosen a diet with far less restrictions than those chosen by a vegan. The differences between the various vegetarian sub-groups may appear to be small, but they are very important to the members who belong to each groups. In many cases the distinctions are important dietary or ethical decisions taken by the individual
There are quite a few differences between the Vegan and Vegetarian
Will start with the one which everyone is quite familiar i.e. Vegetarian
Vegetarian - Refers to a person who does not eat meat and meat made products in terms of Diet.
Vegan - Person who strictly prohbits eating food made from animals.
Now the difference can be sited as
Vegan is a Person
1.Who belives in Animal Rights, recognizes that animals have a right to be free of human use and other exploitation.
2.They not only aviod meat/dairy food but also avoid silk, wool, leather in their clothing.
3.Boycott companies that test on animals.
4.Do not buy cosmetics or personal care products that are made from animal products.
Vegetarian might seldom follow the above other than the diet.
Vegetarians usually just follow the diet, but some will also not use leather or fur. Vegetarians avoid any product that is a result of slaughter like meat, gelatin, glycerine, lard, tallow, etc. Vegans go a step further and do not use any animal products at all. This means that they don't eat any food from an animal including meat, dairy, eggs, honey and other by-products or ingredients. Also, vegans do not wear clothing that is from animals like fur, leather, wool, silk. Down or feather coats, blankets, and pillows are not used either. Vegans also buy no products that were tested on animals or bath/body products that contain animal ingredients. Basically, vegans try to limit their contribution to any form of animal or insect exploitation
