I have never managed a hotel, but having worked in the Hospitality Industry for a long time managing Restaurants, Night Clubs and Bars, I can definitely say that the Hospitality Industry is extremely Flexible, so breaking a rule or two is not that "dangerous". On the other hand, hotels are very particular establishments, and when one manages a hotel he/she must be extremely careful especially with big events like weddings, cocktails, meetings, not to over-book or double-book on the same date. To conclude, I would say that breaking a rule is a possibility, but that comes as a result of forgetting one to begin with, because the rules are there to make our life at work easier.
