From my experience the degree is mostly about techniques and the knowledge of the tools and tricks that allows you to do the thing, so either by studing it in university or at home dosnt make the big differences specially with the huge number of tutorials all over the net, still after the technique the creativity witch i think cannot be teached
To be a good designer not necessory at all, but for official needs and adding more worth.
Degree is just a proof of knowledge but a skilled person and with great interest in graphic design will always have an eye and good taste for an art will have a much better creation. Everyone can study something technically but skills are like enhancement of the knowledge and that is important to create a good art or design.
In my personal opinion obtaining a Degree is like a child learning to walk - we cannot and should not expect a child to run the first day those tender legs show the strength to stand - there is a long process of training and helping the child to learn - the child will fall and learn by making mistakes.
A Qualified degree holder designer goes through the same process - what we, the hobbyists or self-taught designers learn out of necessity or interest, they pay to learn that.
Other than this, it all depends on how those creative cells in your brain work. :)
Degree is like a document which prove your qualification. As per my point view Knowledge and experience is important than degree.
The only degree that matters is MFA and this would cost you a serious amount of money and experience.
no it isn't . i think that the passion moves the person to learn any thing
Degree only for salary
