I would certainly suggest that having a healthy diet can improve depression for a number of reasons,

1. Eating healthy food makes you feel good about yourself which improves self-esteem , confidence, and depression. This is a circle which means, if you eat the wrong food you will start feeling bad, have regret, and most likely depressed.

2. A healthy diet should contain a source of Omega-3 (Oily Fish, walnuts, flaxseed, cod liver oil supplements). Omega-3 has been scientifically proven to improve depression, mood swings, and mental health in general.

I personally define a healthy diet as healthy only when it takes into consideration food, exercise and spiritual practice. Those three in combination will definitely boost up the mood level.

Best wishes

Yes it will help but it is not the major factor. If you eat a healthy food and you are not happy with things around you, it makes no sense. So, eat well but keep a happy mood and worry less.
