Generally speaking, very well. Through media exposure and the work of some very dedicated professionals the general public are now more aware of the problems faced by disabled people and accordingly their new found "understanding" helps them to empathise (not pity) with those who are less able than themselves. Mainstream schools are taking on more and more students with Learning difficulties and providing the appropriate support. More and more businesses are recognising the skills that many disabled people have and are employing more than in previous years, indeed many have proven to be far more valuable employees than others who are more physically/mentally able.
