You have to read and study and understand the Reference guides books provided by US Green Building Coucil.
Once you have a clear understanding of the subjects you can apply for the LEED exam which consists of two tiers.
The first one is LEED GA and the second one is the LEED AP.

LEED Accreditation is broken down into3 separate categories or tiers and is achieved by taking and passing the different LEED exams. Everyone has to first start with LEED Green Associate and from there move on to become a LEED AP with a certain Specialty. The current pass rate for the LEED exams is34% making a prep course the best option to ensure success when pursuing your accreditation.

You can NOt attend the LEED AP exam untill you have LEED project experience.
You have to work in LEED project or to attend a course called "LEED project experience".
