Whilst almost all careers has a clear career path, why does the path of a PA seldom change amidst the wealth of knowledge and experience possessed?

My observation is that more often a PA would remain a PA forever whilst almost all other professionals keep moving up the career ladder. It proves a saying that 'Your past success may be your future enemy'.

It is true that the title PA is interchangeably used, but that is because ONLY a senior PA is fully and truely aware of their executive's goals and objectives.

PAs are able to prioritise and remain focused under pressure based on their great ability to be flexible and adaptable, changing the responsiveness in an atmosphere of contantly shifting priorities.
