My advice would go against my intention of being supportive of writing talents, but I agree with Salma in that it’s very competitive & prejudiced towards “experience” & “track-record”. It may be too risky in terms of financial stability. Some young writing talents make it to become speech-writers of presidents (as in the US), but not all.
Writing has many genres & offers different chances: a talented patent writer or a technical, medical or legal writer will have less difficulty distinguishing himself/herself and having in-house employment.
