What is the difference between “competence” and “skill”?

- Can they be used interchangeably meaning the same? - Is a skill also a competence or is competence a skill?

Competence is specific required skills to perform a job, which we say it as proficiency.  Skill can be any type of ability/know-how,  that a person has.  An Accountant may has skill to work in HR, but to reach its actual competency, he/she should go for further education and training.

A Skill is learnt.

Competence is the ability to deliver successfully.

You can be competent without being skillful (natural ability).

In modern society & business we seem to have forgotton that and assume that if people have the skill it means they are competent.

What I think is as below:

Competence is a refined sturcture of skill & may be defined as various derivates. Without having skills we cannot be a person of competence.

Basically to acquire knowledge of something is can be described as SKILL & making that knowledge is Competence.
