Demographic and Psychographic segmentation is very useful in finding the out the specific need for customers in terms of data and provide cure in best finding for your campaign.
In demographic such as the age, gender and life stages are focused.
Age will help you cater as per your set as (20-50 age) identified the different customer traits, interest and ability to adopt things.
Gender based is specially design to identify the sex (male or females) to target. For example after1960s the automakers identify and focus on making cars for females by introducing range of interior and exterior colors, safety factors to fulfill the needs for female TM.
Life Cycle which starts from Child to the retired officers having different needs.
Psychographic is about Social class, life Style and Personality. proper division for your TM and area where you will find loyal and valued customers.

One of the best examples recently i remembered in lasts Christmas by Lufthansa airline for getting customer data in Istanbul.
They design a direct marketing campaign in which they introduced airhostess given post cards to customer in turkey specially targeting the tourist class.

The life expectancy of a database specially in the UAE is not more than6 months as this is more of a transit place( People change jobs, phone numbers addresses etc).The best way forward is to work towards building your own database by using various Direct marketing tools and Business intelligence tools. There are some companies which go about claiming to have databases as per your requirement, but the honest truth is that there is no such listed list broker company in either UAE or GCC region. I have developed a data generation model using direct marketing strategies on an MS CRM Dynamics platform for my company, which targets companies having50+ pc's and other specific requirement, purely out of yellow pages and other directories. We are able to generate a good qualified database on a daily basis and get businesses out of them as well.
We were facing this problem in my company and we decided the best way to get the needed data was via launching a loyalty program. During signup to our loyalty program we asked all of the questions that would give us the demographic and psychographic data that would help us tailor our marketing campaigns and offerings.
Reem, interesting question in the UAE context, perhaps:)-. Usually, a country's latest census, broken down to counties/districts/vilayat is the most authentic source on demographic characcteristics. The next is an institution like - we have in Pakistan - National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) - which is a source of basic demographic data. I dont know the situation in UAE so I would not draw a parralel between Pakistan and UAE. Psychographic data can only be measured after you do proper audience segmentaion - know who your audiences are - and then do a kind of a baseline research.
