There are many different types of analysis that can be done in order to retrieve information from big data. Each type of analysis will have a different effect or result. Depending on the type of business problem that we are trying to solve, we will choose the type of analysis need to be performed on the data. The different analyses will deliver different outcomes and thus provide different insights. Data mining is used as one of the technique for analyzing Big Data .Data mining helps to operationalize Big Data. Data mining refers to extracting or "mining" knowledge from large amounts of data. Data mining is used in many domains, including finance, engineering, biomedicine, and cyber security.  These are few sample areas where data mining is used -Web mining, Bank loan decisions, Image screening, Load forecasting, Fault diagnosis and Marketing and sales.
