What are you going to do when your commodity/your bosses does come in to the requested do date?

In order for Production to continue, this item needs to be on the floor by tomorrow4 pm and your boss is on a business trip and this product comes from overseas, due to cost savings? The domestic order is6-8 weeks lead time and twice the price. however you know that the cost of production sitting still can cost by far more. including cancellation of your product.

You get with your vendors and find that commodity, than you give him an update call ... (so he can work on the same problem with one of his prefered vendors); this commmodity has a6-8 week lead time on the national market and even longer on the international one. At this point you want to keep production running ... so paying twice as much is not an issue ... the issue is to find this product in24 hours and have it next day in house ...

I had a good vendor relation ship and1 of my3 vendors found what I needed ... at this point the Shipping Manager was informed and had a van ready to petty code it to the plant to arrive just in time for production not to stand still.

What you are suggesting Stanley is do nothing and let procution stand still and order to be cancled and it is your commition on the line to loose.

This was team work at it's best in an unforseen crises ...
