To engage your readers write blog posts that have some emotional connect with your readers. If there is an issue which is debatable then present your opinion and let your readers express theirs. Express your opinion but do not ridicule or offend anyone.
Also for some posts you can ask for your readers opinion on something that you have discussed or maybe you can even ask your readers for help on something that you have very little information about.
I know this might sound quite contrarary to what a blogger must do but since your readers learn from your writings, they will be more than happy to help you learn something in return
