Lack of selling skills and required knowledge (Product, Competition, Market, Territory)
Lack of self motivation and interest in the job role.
As well as the obvious answer, such as lack of ability/ product knowledge etc., fear of failure is a fairly common trait. Such fear can be like a voice in the salespersons head, saying things like...."Don't visit that customer, they won't like the product" or "they already buy from company X" etc. The way through this is mentoring and training. Meet regularly in the field with your salespeople. It can be a lonely world and rejection comes hard!
Lack of effort i do believe who want something will get it so all you need is to want it bad.
Sales will argue that unsatisfactory conversion rates are because the product is not reaching customers’ expectations or else because marketing is not generating good quality leads. On the other hand, Marketing will argue that the quality of the leads is good, but sales prefer to follow their own leads or are not putting enough effort into converting marketing leads and sharing the credit. - See more at: f
