I do take opportunity to answer this discussion, ratherly not of45 years, but hope my contribution will not disappoint you in terms of experience:

Its a HOPE that, future shall be best than past, but, for making future best, one have to implement all experiences in practical , efficient & sufficient way, to isolate problems and to define the work style.

As Yahoo, chairman said, I think, it is the only experience of him, which enables him to see the future best, as he find,himself, capable to isolates problems, the way to sought out, and working innovations, which shows him a ray of prosperity.
