Well, I started my career as a sports journalist18 years ago. I was told to cover a football match. Though my mentor is my own dad who is the oldest sports journalist in the country, it was not an easy task. I use to go to football matches as a supporter and not as a journalist. As the match started my attention was much drawn by the shouts and songs of the supporters as I wanted to do so as well. But as a trainee reporter, I could not. When the match was over and on my way home, I was sweating as I did not know what to write and how to write. I went to see my father for help. Unfortunately for me, at that time, he refused to help me. He said that I should be able to do it by myself. To be frank, I did some copy and paste job. No need to say that my dad was really angry about it. Yet I finally wrote the article and I was paid Rs75 (USD2.50). Here I am now the editor in chief of a weekly.
