I will share my experience and how I start my research.

Phase1: Web article search (quotes and text):

  • Create a list of search terms.
  • Search these terms one by one only websites
  • Search these terms on Google Web Search up to page4.
  • Bookmark the search results page.
  • Save the results as a webpage by converting to PDF using web2pdfconvert
  • Save all bookmarks and converted PDFs in a folder labelled by date and subtopic.

Phase2: Image search (infographics, graphs and head shots)

  • Revise and increase the list of search terms from Phase1.
  • Search these terms on Google Web Search up the end.
  • Download all the images into a separate folder under the same folder by date in Phase1.
  • NOTE: label based on your outline.

Phase3: Skim and clear unnecessary files and create an outline for your first draft.

  • Write your article's subheadings
  • Create2 outlines with different organization.

Phase4: Whitepapers / Research papers search (Slideshare and Scribd).

  • Revise and increase the list of search terms from Phase2.
  • Search these terms on Slideshare and Scribd Not google for the last356 days.
  • Download all the images into a separate folder under the same folder by date in Phase1 labelled Research for date ???

Phase5: Write your1st draft without organization.

  • Spell check and re-organize your thoughts once again for your2nd draft.

Zip all your saved downloaded files into a single file and archive for future reference.

I'd rather give you an example. Last week I wrote against the minister for Tertiary Education. His brother is the vice-chancelor of an offshore campus indian private university (EIILM University). According to the University Grants Commission of India, abovementioned universities should have the authorisation of the Indian government to operate. The EIILM University do not have any authorisation. I wrote to the UGC and to the Tertiary Education Commission to have all the documents necessary to prove that the university is an illegal one.
