A team members behavior and habits as to how they relate to one another is important when working on a task. Being able to be trusted in a is one of the most important qualities but how would you determine that a person is trustworthy.
No matter what, you should trust your team, within time you will learn how to customize your trust with each individual .... I live by this code "Trust and Respect are EQUAL"
Only time will really tell, and maybe not even then. For me, I trust people until I have a reason not to, that's my policy, otherwise your life will be a long one, constantly looking over your shoulder worrying that some one will do you wrong.
When Team members are proactive and take initiative to learn extra. The best way to judge is when team starts working independly e.g during absence of Team Leader and the target is met/exceeded for the day.
