coriolis force, a long pendulum in a vacume or by choosing a star to observe and wait until it's at the zenith and then waiting for the next night until it's at the zenith again then dividing2*pi (which is a full revolution) by time.

2*pi/ t             pi is3.1415......        t is the time, which is almost24 hours.
