Yes ... you will find different people with different preferences regarding this point.
People who prefer to be directed by their seniors are usually those who are very content with just doing what they are told today and get paid for that.
Other people - on the other hand - who like to have their personal touch on their work, don't mind taking some risk in doing that, expect credit and reward when their touch proves to be different, don't mind taking responsibility and are usually willing to be accountable for their decisions.
It is now the organization's corporate culture and management style in place that determines what is possible and what is not, and what is preferred/appreciated and what is not !!
