Knowledge of grammar matters a lot in spoken language.
The people often make mistake during their spoken language.
This is because of instant cognitive decision of mind which focuses more on that thought than the grammatical structure and there are mistakes in spoken language.
This problem can be effectively manipulated and controlled by practice and by following the proverb "think before you speak." It means speaking with slow pace.

It is that important , pure & simple .
Because in order for any one to arrive at an exquisite state of spoken English , one needs not only to express themselves verbally in certain vocabularies , phrases & expressions , but they also need to be grammatically correct ( Spot On ) .
Otherwise , one would end up with either Pidgin ( Contact ) English , or , Fractured ( Broken ) English , that both would not only be listened to with under-the-surface uneasiness , but also , would not get it's Speaker much anywhere ( English Language wise ) , & , at the end of the day , it would not amount to that much of a Desired Flawless Spoken English .
So , this Symbiotic Relationship , can not be ignored , nor , can it be put on the back burner , & , every possible effort must be exerted to always make sure that any Spoken English is predicated on it's pertinent , relevant & material Grammars , which are pretty much easy to get a handle on , by simply committing one self to learning & acquiring them via the correct , up-to-par & up-to-snuff scientifically accepted & proven methodologies .
Last but certainly not least , one ought to always bear in mind that once one gets the hang of it , one would feel the real pleasure of practicing such a perfect , correct & grammar based-Spoken English .
( ...
& That's the way it goes ) .

The person who is confident about using correct is a confident speaker also. This is the advantage of learning amd using correct grammar as it makes you confident about making less mistakes while you are speaking. Moreover using grammar will make sense of what you are actually trying to communicate. What you speak should be grammatical free of errors so that the listeners can understand. Hence, it is very important to use correct grammar while speaking.

It all depends on the purpose of speaking English.
If an English teacher is making mistakes and he/she should study grammar, and especially the grammar of speech.
If the person uses English to simply communicate, then mistakes are no major problem.
Then comes the question of what grammar is correct or not? Welsh English speakers say: "She is a hard worker, isn't it?" and that is perfectly grammatical to them.
So what is correct and what isn't?

Studying grammar should go together with a reasonable amount of controlled and freer practice as the Direct method suggests. Particular care should be posed during the controlled practice of the grammar structures that are being studied in order to avoid mistakes and fossilization in the speaking practice fase. For this reason I'd also suggest some correction on the spot when doing exercises and delayed error correction during the freer practice, when, as usual, we focus more on fluency.

Grammar is important, yes! However, it is a skill that develops naturally in the context of reading, writing, and speaking.
