This is quite common on Bayt.com. What is the purpose behind this?
The main purpose is to brain storm and encourage people to answer questions and exchange ideas however it’s not ethical to vote up wrong answers
Dear Fellow Members
I just wish to point out that this whole exercise is about exchnage of useful information, knowledge and not dictated by any other trivial like earning points etc. What will you do with the points? but we can interact and hopefully get nformation and ideas that could be put to good use.
If one is asking questions or answering them it is ones wish to conncet with fellow members who are knowldgeable in their own shosen fields.
this exercise be left alone and away from the benefits part of it.
there are people in this world who are beyond the benefits and points that acrue. if one cannot contribute one is free to remain away and not pass comments on others just for the heck of it.
I for one unkowingly benefitted because i have come to know and respect and be respected by some of our esteemed fellow members through this exercise of information exchange. we all are free and voluntaritly choose to take part ! is it not? vote up or not hardly matters!
assigning this exercise any other motive is unthinkable.Almighty has provided each one of us with just one life only . why waste it on trivials. lets aim higher and be enlightened by the answers , advice, knowledge shared by Bayt members. connecting with fellow human beings brings forth the unexplanable presence of the almighty and the bliss that accompanies!
warm regards
amrut desai
Vote for the answers which you perceive is correct and you have a chance to comment on all answers and questions as well.
I believe that every person votes for specific answers that he/she agrees with. Not all the answers of course because no one can agree with everyone. We read them and then if we want, we vote for one and maybe more than one answers.
nice soft question,,, i do not think so that you copy others answers and get points. be fair with your self.
of course it is totally unethical to vote for any answer whatever it is right or wrong in that way we eliminate the main concept which bayt.com made the specialist for, and also it is when you make vote down for someone he began not to accept any invitation from you it is unethical also and this case happened with me I almost vote up for right answer from my point of view and vote down for wrong ones.
Yes Bayt.com is a great sharing, learning, exchange platform but above all it is a recruitment platform and as such must be CREDIBLE, must be made credible and kept credible for it to have value and become a preferred reference site for recruitment activities for the benefits of all its users.
It is unprincipled and improper just for the sake of ranking or votes or points or popularity to vote for each and every answer on the site and defeats the objective of making this site a credible one for everyone using it.
Voting for an answer regardless of its quality should not be unacceptable to the voters themselves, especially when realising that such votes influence a specialty rank. Members should be responsible for their own voting behaviour as a reflection of their own professional behaviour. Then again, one should also not forget that a "specialty rank" around here still is NO official certification. While a degree attests for your attained & tested knowledge, the primary attestation of your knowledge around here among your peers (at least to me) is your given answers or posed questions. We should all work together in making such a system a credible one, through the quality of questions, answers & a rigorous (not rigid) voting behaviour!
Having said this, and with due respect, answering this good & daring question should not rise up to the level of evaluating ethics or acceptable behaviour of members. I'm not a big fan of "voting sprees" or "friendly voting" or "reciprocal voting" and I won't catch myself practising it, even if I notice that others may vote for my answers expecting this.
I do catch myself, however, "guilty" of following & wanting to read specific answers of member who have consistently distinguished themselves trough genuinely industrious, relevant & very useful (own) answers. Because I follow them closely, I may end up voting more often to their answers that others' (per day). I don't regard this favouritism or asking for reciprocity. On the contrary, it's a vote of appreciation of their efforts & confidence in their high professional ethics of sharing, not withholding, knowledge.
So, the moral of the story is if certain member's answers deserve five votes of me per day, because of excellence or usefulness, I most likely won't withhold from voting to convey the appearance of partiality.
TRUE,,, WE SHOULD REVIEW OUR ATTITUDE.
In Bayt Most of the time we also not asking questions because we don't know the answers some time we ask question that we know the right answer but the reason is to exchange ideas having higher point in to our specialists so voting up also depends on the answer if someone at least try to answer the question why not voting up to encourage others.
Right is Right I mean we have to vote and encourage the right or near right answer but any complimentary for wrong answer I think is not acceptable at all
