Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) is the enzyme that form angiotensin II from angiotensin I, angiotensin II contacts muscles around the vessels by which the vessels shrinks and causes hypertension, so ACE inhibitors slows the conversion of angiotensin II from angiotensin I and thus the vessels are dilated and hypotension is achieved. This medicine lower the blood pressure so that the heart can easily pump it.
side effects: common side effects are cough, headache, low blood pressure, dizziness, weakness
rare side effects are angioedema (swelling of muscles), liver dysfunction, kidney failure, ,
