Are the companies prioritizing PMP's over non PMP's project managers with proven experience in big multinationals

I am not a strong believer in certifications..
as I believe they are just to help you know your way around the subject you are interested in or to achieve a condition that is required ..a perfect example is the PMP, I have more than13 years of experience and was forced to get my PMP certification as it was mandated as a year objective for me..
I must admit that if I did attend these sessions at an earlier point of my career my life would have been easier..
and wouldn't have had to build my own templates and processes that I use in managing my projects.
on the other hand..
attending these sessions were torture to a person like myself..
as I found a lot of what was said as unrealistic and does not reflect what actually happens in real life..
but this is just me..

As recently our life is logarithmic progressing process in terms of technology & science so I see it is a must to update our knowledge base to match the requirements up to date in our work/social life.
As the learning process is a continuous phenomenon so we cannot stop learning, otherwise we will be left behind the train on the station where we thaught it is last station for learning.

Yes, PMP is a plus even if you have experience for the following reasons.
It shows that you have a base vocabulary in Project Management It shows that you have knowledge about the standardized and evolving PM principles and best practices.
Many large corporates and Government agencies who have PMOs need PMP as a pre qualifier for PM jobs.
If looking for a job change, PMP increases your chances.it's never a handicap to have qualifications.
Having said that I completely agree to the fact that no certification can match real life experience, management and leadership skills.

In my view, it is essential to have certified PMP if you have project management experience. This is a recognition of your Project Management experience by PMI because beginners or people who do not have certain hours of project experience cannot qualify to appear for PMP.

Also, it may not be helpful to you in your current job role but if you want to change job it certainly can add additional weightage to your resume.

yes, I believe It worth it.
because in preparing for it you will get useful knowledge about PMI standards or at least it will help you to refresh your knowledge if you already have it.
I beleive also that it will increase the success rate in your projects somehow.
add to that the added value to your career by being a PMP certified, and increased self confidence when you have a proof that you have the required knowledge for managing projects.
