It depends on the situation. My HR experience I know both (employer and employee) of them have the rights to terminate contract of employment. In my organization reques15 days notice to terminate the contract by employer and employee. Sometimes notice period varies the length of service.
it depends on the local labour law so my answer will be based on the egyptian labour law which is
" the company has the authority to terminate the employment contract during the probation period by its own will " so to terminate the contract during the probation period it's just the company right but from the employee side we call it resignation as he can resign even during the probation period
