Actually in the standard model there are 4 forces: electromagnetic, weak, strong and gravitational. the electroweak theory which unified successfully electromagnetic and weak forces, inspired many theoretical physicists to believe that all fores are one force at certain scale. Hence, the appearance of Grand Unified Theory which unify electroweak and strong forces (QCD), and other unification theories like SuperSymmetry, Grand Unified Theory, String theory...etc.
