the term automation defines the ability of a particular system to repetably do an operation and provide the same result every time , this could be achived by hard wired relay logic which then required a larger space and workforce then again thus done will only provide you with one option of the process

Hence we need a PLC a Programmable Logic Controller where in we can alter the opration without much rewiring or wiring since the relay logic is virtual and also can provide precision and advance control over the process

PLC "Programmable Logic Controller" is the control system can be controlled by a software, which allow us to soft wiring our automation system, and make modification without changing any component.

PLCs are have multiple inputs and outputs, operate under extended temperature ranges, have immunity to electrical noise and have resistance to vibration and dusty environment.
