An ideal employee is the one who consistently meets the agreed performance levels in performing his/her tasks. The practice (if not abused) is usually used as a motivator through the poser of recognition. 

Everyone aspires to be ideal, employees included, but no one is ideal. However, an excellent employee is the one that maximizes the benefits to the employer. That is, he provides a good return to the employer for investing in him. However, an excellent employee should not be viewed through a materialistic perspective only. An excellent employee is loyal, cooperative, and dedicated. He is pleasant to deal with  and ethical.  His presence in the company is value-added, not just financially but morally as well.

An ideal employee is one who understands the expectations and contributes significantly in timely accomplishment of Organizational & Business goals.
