Social networks are NOT good to manage teams.   Teams work closely together (i,e, team not group) to achieve common shared goal from which everyone will benefit one way or the other.   Social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Xingm Ning, ....etc) cannot play this role !!

Internet technologies in general (e-mail, Skype, youtube,  ..) may be helpful TOOLS in team management, but they need sort of a framework that complements these tools to serve the purpose and get the work done.

Last word,  social networks may be good to publicize/broadcast information, spreas the word, create public opinion, and move the crowds ... but not effective team management

Hopefully this answer is of help to you !
