As an auto logistician, let me touch upon my area of exertize... i.e. RoRo vessels. Following are the steps we follow once we receive a RoRo vessel with a consignment of automotive units:
1. After ship berthing, the vessel is discharged of the units.
2. The discharged units are taken from the quay side to an assigned temporary holding ground in the port.
3. Necessary security arrangements are ensured in place until we move these units to a dry port from where the consignees can collect their consignments.
4. The following day, these units are tallied as per the manifest and the report is submitted to the port authority to facilitate prinitng of movement sheets.
5. That evening the units are gated out form the port after tallyig the records and movement sheet and the driver details are logged.
6. Units move in convoy with a security escort and are received at the dry port (CFS).
7. List of the received units are displayed for the C&F agents for action.
8. C&F agents clears the port fees and customs fees at the respective offices and then lastly clears the dry port charges.
9. Unit is cleared after verifying the C&F agent and consignee details.
