Here are the famous three main questions that are asked during an interview for a Project Manager:

1. In Your Experience, What One Skill Does a Project Manager Need to Succeed?

2. What Methods Will You Use to Deliver the Results We’re Looking For?

3. How Will You Put Together Your Project Team?

Hello Salauddin,

project management is not my area of specialization yet but here is my opinion.

For screening i would use the following.

1- From your point of view what is the skill, competences needed for project manager and do you have these or not ? and how would you rate your self in them?

2- why would i pick you as project manager not the previous person what will you do more as a project manager in the process?

3- What if you didn't deliver the project results as we agreed upon ?

these questions would be enough to screen him but that doesn't mean he is any good yet.

the next step i would use would be a test between him and the other top4 candidate that had high score in the interview.

the test should be a project that you really want to do, you would give them the need results and a time fram for them to plan.

the candidate should plan, sketch, think, milestone the project, gather the competences needed for the team members, how many team members he need and why.

so basicly they will do every little step in the project and you in the end will pick the best plan you get and character.

i mean that's how i will do it :)

sure you would do the same anyway hope i helped

Thanks,

1) Discuss your roles in managing a project in your previous experience.

2) In your previous experience, what system of control did you use in order for the project be completed in a timely manner and within the budget.

3) Discuss what was the outcome of your previous project relative to your performance .

4) How did you go about planning for a recent project you handled?

5) How did you handle your most challenging experience in your previous job?

6) What would you consider as your biggest achievement and why?

7) Describe a time when your work was heavy and how you handled it.

Well, project is not my area of specialization.

However, asking the following question might be of some use.

Tell us about the most recent best two or three achievements you had and how you achieved it.

It will give enough space to evaluate the individual on several important parameters of evaluation.

Effective communication; Realistic approach; Truthfulness; Knowledge and strategy formation; team player; etc.
