As per my experience I would like to state that leadership is demonstrated with the following three strengths in a person ;1. Visionary2. Courageous3. Generous
Visionary : A leader would successfully be able to set long term goals for the company. He would clearly understand the product life cycle and plan in advance the diversification that company may require in order to maintain their balance sheet healthy and keep company progressing. If they are a services providers then leader would clearly know the limitations of their strengths and keep on adding values to their portfolios. He would be keeping close watch on innovations happening in the industry and would be able to make nearly accurate forecasts. He should be able to manage P&L for the company as per the projections made by the company.
Courageous : He should courageous to lead the organization / team from front. He should be courageous to uphold his values against personal or organizational short term gains. He should be courageous to accept criticism and should be enthusiastic to thank those and improve upon the weakness. He would be courageous to defend his team members at the moments of crisis. He would be courageous to remain calm towards his team members and motivate them rather than venting out the pressure on team under high pressure situations. He would be courageous to maintain democratic behavior even if he has attain high success in his assignments and has been conferred with more discretionary powers by the organization as some leaders loose their head and start turning autocratic.
Generous : Leader is a very good listener and very compassionate person who is able to develop trust upon his team mates. He/she stands with them even at the situations of their personal crises. Leader is able to command love and respect from his team rather than finding opportunities of demanding respect.
As per my experience I found managers with these strengths have done remarkably well for their organizations and for themselves.

It is really important that he/ she had been worked before in operations section and executives so when he/she reach for being a leader knows exactly what problems, cases and environtment that employees under him would face.
