Is being connected to internet these days a must or an option,why?

For work I think he is mandatory for  connect with others and the internet is very suitable for that

For private use I think he is still option  

Because the information and entertainment

I'd say it's a must but it off course it is not entirely. It also depends on your needs and location. I can share an experiment I carried out a couple of years ago in the Netherlands briefly (it sounds mad but it said a lot to me):

I informed friends that I will be in a temporary celibacy for two weeks not getting out of my house to see whether I can manage living normally using the internet for core daily and life activities (well most of them). By the end of the period I proved to myself that in the Netherlands, one can do the following without leaving his home:

1. Communicate in written, voice, picture, video with friends, relatives, acquaintances and work relations.
2. Pay bills (internet banking)
3. Order food and have it delivered (from snacks to full meals to junk food to full grocery shopping)
4. Order products and have them delivered, from cloths to home appliance to a home gym!
5. Consult a doctor (phone, email or online)
6. And the list goes on if one uses own imagination.

All is thanks to the internet.
