Both are inter related but Sales more tough knowing the fact have to face everything company do, good marketing can easier their job but sales are always difficult knowing the diversification of customers and market.
both are harder, but our effort will reduced that.
I have other answer , nothing is hard to learn as long you take the steps , but is can be what is you can work or whats you can find yourself in and achive the tasks needed or even make add value in that field.

SALES obviously...... Most of the successful sales persons are born SALESMAN....... and the rest of the lot learns by following them.
Salse need communication skils more so its harder to learn.
From my point of view the sales is depending on the interpersonal skills so it's harder to learn.
Sales is a subcomponent of Marketing and learning a whole marketing field is quite harder as it includes brand management, product management, consumer behavior and sales management etc.
I believe you can advance your skills by learning,but you cannot learn and succeed in sales or even marketing by just learning.
that is the difference between successfull sales or marketing professionals.

According to me selling is little bit harder than marketing.
