Lets discuss De-Motivation! Since university days to professional life. There have been hundreds of threads, articles and tips have been provided for “How to get motivated” or on “Motivation. Here I want Bayt users feedback and insight into “Did you ever feel De-motivated in your professional life?’” What were those behavior(s) / act(s) of your seniors or peers which made you de-motivated. Do mention the Core03 point off yours. Mine are (1) Intentional Ignorance by seniors (2) Despite of having the flair/talent of particular skills I have been not assign specific task (3) Unhealthy/angry peer or boss. What are your de-motivating factors?
Let me put a question to you, Mr President: Was "one of the intelligent children" born to you? Did you always be supplemented, even if you knew not you worked so hard and the problems looked easy, by your intelligence and your problem solving ability? Do you think school is easy, even when people who have been struggling surrounded you?
I've been betting you. Because I've been too, I know. Cake for me was school before graduation. Everything as, easy peasy, never tried. Total ten American universities, and my newcomer fall almost failed in mathematics (my best topic). Had a crisis of existence. I thought I was intelligent! I thought I was intelligent! Why has it been so difficult? My work ethic fell and I began to do worse.
I have read a lot of success books, motivation books and work ethics, but none of them has clicked until I have read the book "Mindset." It redefined completely how I defined "intelligent," and now I will make a quick summary for you.
You have always been smart with the problem with your childhood (and my childhood, and so many others in Reddit). You were given a positive label, which placed you above other students, without having to work hard. You were special. You were special. You've been clever. You often heard it (from parents, teachers, colleagues), and it became part of your identity.
Tomorrow to now my greatest barrier changed. Forget about time, forget if you are currently hungry or tired or anything.
I have come across a trick to help me stay now. A flip. I got a pendant, but your pocket can work with a ring or a coin. Whenever I fiddle with it, I see it, stop what I did to procrastinate, and begin to do everything I did. I fiddled with it about 1 o'clock last night. So I got up and just ran there. I hadn't been to the gym. Fuck the time, fuck the fuck I'm tired. I had to do it all day long, I put it off. Next day, wake up. My phone has begun browsing. He got out of bed with his pendant and began to study.
Well, oneself is more accountable for self motivation or for de-motivation. If individual only takes corrective measures then the causes left for de-motivation will be very minimal. Yes, the surrounding has an impact but may not and should not become the cause for failures.
I could list few reasons for self de-motivation.
Mismatch of task accepted with the individuals strengths, knowledge and experience.
No clarity about the task and job role.
Not providing and allowing space for others inputs / ideas / suggestions.
Lack of self initiative to learn and explore solution to problems.
Unrealistic self assessment.
No path for self development.
Management based on control and creating fear among the team is an absolute no go for me. As a human we all want to feel appreciated and not subbstitutable at any given point.
A good Manager/Leader will understand how to embrace your USP and how to develop them instead of cutting them off cause of his own unsecurity.
Managers/Leaders not being open for suggestions of their team and the "being the boss and therefore right" attitude is not only demotivating but a death and for the company.
I fully endorse Mr Irphan Ghani. The environment, the peers, subordinates all are bent upon to run u down through intrigues which make a person demotivated. However it produces a strong desire in u to defeat such intrigues and rise through your commitment, continuous struggle and hard work. I believe in KASAB-KAMAL kun KEH JAHAN AZIZ MESHAWEY
I completely relate to your three reasons....strange but true
