Yes. Financial statement indicate the past performance of the company. And every investor want to invest in those company from where he can get best return on investment. Hence, financial statement help the investor to take a decision to invest or not to invest in that company. 

 

But investment decision will be depended on how much risk the investor can take. If the investor is high risk taker, then he may invest in low peforming company. But if the investor is risk averse then he will invest only in high perfroming company. Indeed, ultimate aim is best return on investment.

present and potential investors, creditors (bankers and suppliers), governmental institutions like inland revenue authority  are among those external users of the financial information of an entity who receive the financial information in the form of financial statements.

Financial statements provide an entity's past performance and a potential investor requires to review an entity's financial statements so as to make his/her investment decisions.
