As per my opinion firing any employee is one of operation which a HR never wants to do but some time there is not any option.
As per my experience during session with employees on exit interviews, employee feel insulted when he follow for their full and final settlement and document required. That is why I always try to provide there things with in time line define by legal and company policies
As per my opinion and process I followed
1. Try that employee respectfully leave his job by his own (if possible )
2. Transfer of duties and company belongings at close room and in writing
3. Provide all the information to employees for example when he get the remains dues whom he will contact and when.
4. Provide the document like experience letter on the last day (if allowed by company policy possible )
5. If person is using company car provide car or cab up to his place
6. Do not do any proceeding front of others
