Yes ... definitely ... I agree with this observation
People need to be led .... and ....Processes need to be managed
Leading preserves and respects the human nature and character of the people. This is different from managing things which have no personality, no character, no emotions, no passion ... etc ... etc.
Talking about people management is really in its core, management of activities and outcomes from these people to fit expectations and requirement. But you do not manage the people themselves !!
This is the difference
Manage the available resources to its optimal level and set examples for people to follow.
leading people means help them to identify the needs and opportunities to which they want to respond and determining how they may best make a contribution, but things don't respond so better we should manage things and lead people
That depends on our role and the people in question. Effective managers should mange people performance. That migh be achived through leadership with some people and management with others.
You can manage a process on the basis of using and improving "what is" but you can lead people to believe in and create "what could be".
i agree with the above answers and allow me to expand,
i believe leading means showing followers how things are performed to perfection while managing the resources and outcome of the process,we cannot lead the resources and outcome,we manage them but we lead the crowed to achieve objectives.
DoesntLeading people also in some way mean Managing people too?
I think so asthey are also part of the resources available and one must be able to manage all resources available effectively
