Are there any differences between: word processing, data entry and secretarial work?

Yes it is different, word processing is using microsoft work to enter data while data entry is typing data into databases.

Word Processing - using a computer to create, edit, and print documents.
Data Entry - type data into a database using a keyboard.
Touch typing skills helpful along with adequate speed and accuracy.
Secretarial work - Of all the above this is probably the most demanding and interesting job at the same time.
Tasks can range from: •Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
•Arrange conferences, meetings, and booking travel arrangements for colleagues/managers.
•Composing, typing, and distributing meeting notes, routine correspondence, and reports.
•Greeting visitors and callers, handling their inquiries, and directing them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
•Maintaining scheduling and event calendars.
•Photocopying correspondence and other printed material.
•Opening, reading, routing, and distributing incoming mail and other material, and preparing answers to routine letters.
•Scheduling and confirming appointments for clients, customers, or supervisors.
•Setting up and maintaining electronic and paper systems for records, correspondence etc.
•Taking dictation in shorthand or by machine, and transcribing information.
•Conducting searches to find needed information, using such sources as the Internet.
•Coordinating conferences and meetings.
•Learning to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.
•Operating electronic mail systems and coordinate the flow of information both internally and with other organizations.
•Ordering supplies e.g.
stationery and monitoring stock supplies.
•Providing services to customers account information and delivery information.
•Reviewing work done by others to check for correct spelling and grammar, ensuring that company format policies are followed, and recommending revisions.
•Supervising other clerical staff, and providing training and orientation to new staff.
•Operating office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems, and using computers for word processing, database work and spreadsheets other applications e.g.
Powerpoint for presentations.

Word processing is any work done by using the a word processing software e.g Ms Word.2.
Data entry refers to only entering alphabetic or numeric data in to some specific format which is pre-defined.3.
Secretarial work may include different things including drafting letters, taking minutes of meeting, corresponding to mails and calls, maintaining schedules etc.
Essentially scope of secretarial work depends on size of organization.

Of course there is a difference.
Secretary, Word Processor (Computers) and Data Capturers.
I mean they are3 totally different job lines.

Secretarial work is a job category where in the employee performs various task including word processing and data entry.

Yes they are three different work positions.

Word processing is using a PC or a software to edit, counter-check word spreadsheets.

Data Entry is enterig information in a system, while Secretary is at times doing the above two as well as typing letters, taking minutes, photocopying, faxing, answering calls and taking messages. Distribute information from Senior staff to the subodinates.

word processing is a process after data entry using applications in MS office and data entry is manual work by using a computer rather than a type writer.  All skills are needed for Secretarial work.

Yes,Word Processing:is using a computer software (ex: Microsoft word )to create, edit, and print documents,while Data Entry is entering (typing )  data into a database using a keyboard or mouse ,secretarial work is totally difference it includes typing,answering calls ,arranging meetings , archiving and other assigned tasks  

Word Processing:

Word processing software, sometimes called a word processor, allows users to create and manipulate documents containing mostly text and sometimes graphics.

Data Entry/Data Processing:

The processing of gathering and manipulating data and then sorting it into some meaningful form is called Data Processing.
